Launched in 2001, the .NAME generic domain extension is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal web pages only. These domains can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other designations people are known by. Initially, only 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to register john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already grabbed third-level names remained online.

You will have the chance to update the WHOIS contact details, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an existing domain to our company if you take its EPP transfer code from the present domain service provider and we will renew it when the transfer has been done. There are no particular conditions on who can acquire a .NAME domain name, but in order to keep the idea behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry organization may check who the Registrant is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration can be challenged.
